Cloud connectivity and hosted UC specialist Sona Business has become the latest member of Comms Council UK as it looks to gain a stronger market presence.
Sona is a relatively new name to the UK wholesale market and operates from a base in Hull. It is now part of the country’s official trade association for telecommunications companies – sharing a strong focus on women’s representation in the industry.
Co-founder Sonia Harjani says Sona is proud to become the latest member of the association, as it looks to build a powerful UK proposition.

“Becoming a member of Comms Council UK is a strong statement of intent and reinforces our commitment to become a leading player, as part of the country’s network connectivity and telecoms community,” she explained.
“Equally the organisation has a strong female ethos and focus which aligns perfectly with our own management philosophies and vision. The council empowers, supports and inspires women in telecoms. I’ve been working in the industry for the last 15 years and very much look forward to contributing and getting involved.”
Privately owned Sona was started by founders Sonia and Walter Perris 13 years ago and has global operations centred from Rotterdam – supported by data centres across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
As a leading supplier of ‘last mile’ connectivity and hosted UC solutions across Europe and Asia, Sona provides high calibre network, datacentre, telecoms, IT and security solutions to the UK channel partner community. Core areas are connectivity, communication, cloud and mobility.
Shake-Up
Walter highlighted: “Sona is on a mission to shake-up the market and forge a strong UK presence based on high calibre connectivity and speed of service through a personal touch. Our official UK launch takes place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on January 28th, which makes joining Comms Council UK perfect timing.”
Sona’s wide-ranging portfolio includes hosted UC, SD-WAN and private cloud services. It already enjoys a strong market presence in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France and Switzerland, supported by a 24/7/365 Global Network Operations Centre.
Head of Partner Channel UK, John McKindland, concluded: “We are a complete one-stop-shop on a global stage. Equally the short lines of communication with after-sales, helps us stand out from the competition. We are reachable, caring and professional; a very nimble and adaptable business with high levels of availability. We’re always there when customers need us to deliver faster, more cost effective and profitable services. The future is bright and we’re all looking forward to putting Sona firmly on the UK map through Comms Council UK and in many other ways.”
Tracey Wright, Chair at Comms Council UK, highlighted: “We are thrilled to welcome Sona Business, a serious player in the UK’s UC market, to our membership. This is especially timely as we celebrate our 20th year, during which we’re deepening our focus on critical industry topics like fraud prevention while expanding our Women in Telecoms initiative.”
