- Former Director of Cloud Solutions promoted to CTO role
- Craig is responsible for driving Phoenix’s technology vision, particularly around AI, cybersecurity and digital transformation
- “AI is undoubtedly the most transformative opportunity for service innovation and cost-efficiency in a generation.”
Phoenix Software is proud to announce that Craig Taylor has been promoted to the role of Chief Technology Officer, effective from today. Craig has assumed the role from the outgoing CTO, Darren Goldsborough, who is enjoying a well-earned retirement after 25 years at Phoenix.

Craig is a decade-long veteran at Phoenix Software. Prior to his appointment as CTO, he was Director of Cloud Solutions for over 5 years. As Chief Technology Officer, Craig will lead the strategic direction of the company’s technology vision, ensuring that innovation is embedded in the company’s solutions and aligned with the evolving needs of its customers.
Craig has enjoyed a diverse and rewarding career in IT and business. He is passionate about helping organisations utilise digital technology to improve their services to deliver better results. Prior to his roles at Phoenix, he has experience founding a tech start up and has experience in both established channel partners and systems integrators.
Craig enjoys supporting others to develop their careers. He was given the Strathclyde People Award by the University of Strathclyde in 2014 for Services to Entrepreneurship and Mentoring. He also volunteers as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of a Yorkshire based mental health charity that offers a range of counselling, and other therapeutic services.
Strategic priorities – AI, cybersecurity, digital transformation
Craig’s priorities for Phoenix centre on delivering transformative technology solutions that harness AI to drive meaningful innovation, strengthen cybersecurity resilience, and accelerate digital transformation.
“AI’s capacity to reshape how organisations operate will see an acceleration in the pace of change, particularly over the next two to three years,”comments Craig. “But for AI to be successful, the pace of change needs to be managed. The real challenge for AI lies in integration – how organisations embed AI into their businesses without compromising compliance, cost-effectiveness, or customer service.”
“AI is undoubtedly the most transformative opportunity for service innovation and cost-efficiency in a generation, but it’s easy to forget it’s not the only challenge that our customers face today. Digital transformation for example is the foundation of AI success, and many organisations are still early on in this journey. We’re here to guide them through this change – from strategy to execution – but increasingly with AI in mind. At the same time, with cyber attacks rising and resources stretched, we are continually investing in our security services to help organisations stay resilient.”
Claire Metcalfe, Managing Director of Phoenix comments on the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Craig Taylor as our new Chief Technology Officer. Craig brings a wealth of experience and a bold vision for how Phoenix can continue to lead in the delivery of technological innovation for our customers, particularly around AI, cybersecurity and digital transformation. His appointment marks an exciting new chapter for our business and our customers.
At the same time, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Darren Goldsborough, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service. Darren has been instrumental in shaping Phoenix’s technology strategy and building the strong foundations we stand on today. His leadership, integrity, and commitment have left a lasting legacy, and we wish him all the very best in his retirement.”
