Docusign introduces AI-powered contract review, approval, and workflow automation features in the UK

Companies can create, review, negotiate, and electronically sign contracts faster

Docusign is expanding its Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform in the UK with new features for contract preparation, contract processing, and AI-powered review. The new features help companies create, review, and negotiate contracts more efficiently, and reduce manual processes prior to electronic signature.

Achieving structure, transparency, and automation in the contract lifecycle

In many companies, contract creation is still a manual, cross-departmental process. Documents are forwarded multiple times, versions are edited in parallel, and status information is reconciled via email.

A single average B2B contract takes four to six weeks to sign and incurs internal costs of £750, with organisations signing multiple contracts annually. It often travels back and forth between the legal department, sales, and purchasing more than 15 times. Most of the time is not lost in signing, but in preparation and review.

The Docusign IAM platform brings speed, structure, and intelligence to every step of the process, using automation and AI to shorten the time from input to signature. A 2025 Deloitte report* shows that companies with more advanced contract creation capabilities outperform their financial goals 55% more than organisations that create agreements from scratch. 77% of leaders in high-performing organisations credit agreement management with business success, and 47% are more likely to outperform financial goals with advanced routing, editing and approval features. Legal teams improve lifecycle time goals by about 2.4x with advanced creation and approval capabilities.

“With these new capabilities, we are enabling structured and connected collaboration throughout the entire agreement process,” says Maxime Hambersin, Senior Director of Product Management International at Docusign. “Teams can now manage templates, track progress, and review contract clauses without the friction of switching between tools or versions. By reducing repetitive manual tasks, we are paving the way for a new generation of smarter, actionable contracts that empower teams to focus on high-impact strategic activities.”

A concrete example of this application can be found in supplier contract management—an area where lack of visibility and manual processes often result in a 15% loss in contract value due to missed deadlines or unclaimed discounts. With Agreement Desk acting as a centralised entry point, Procurement and Legal departments can now collaborate within a single, intelligent repository to automate the tracking of renewals and obligations.

What’s new

  • Agreement Preparation enables teams to create templates under the right legal conditions, generate customised contracts with accurate data, and organise everything in one place – without having to juggle multiple versions or start from scratch.
  • Agreement Desk, as a central point of contact for internal teams, makes it possible to request, track, review, and manage contracts from acceptance to signing. It provides complete transparency for all parties involved, helps teams efficiently assign and forward tasks, and facilitates real-time collaboration between legal, sales, and procurement – so no one is left in the dark about the current status of things.
  • AI-powered review, powered by our new AI engine called Docusign Iris, helps legal departments review contracts faster and more accurately. The AI evaluates contract content in German directly in the source text, rather than simply providing a localised interface. It identifies clauses that do not comply with internal guidelines, compares contracts with defined playbooks, and suggests appropriate redlines. With a single click, reviewers can accept the redline suggestions, helping them negotiate faster while reducing risk.

Brendan Mills, contract manager at Perceptyx, the Employee Experience transformation company, explains: “We plan to use Docusign as the central platform for commercial requests such as NDAs, MSAs, and order forms. This improves clarity, ensures reliable notifications, and makes it easier to prioritise incoming requests.”

Contracts as strategic business data

With IAM, Docusign aims not only to sign contracts digitally, but also to make them usable as a structured data source. Contracts contain business-critical information such as terms, liability provisions, price escalation clauses, and compliance obligations. AI-powered analysis makes this content systematically evaluable for the first time. The new features enable teams to work more efficiently – saving time, reducing risk, and making the contract process more transparent from the outset. This helps teams better manage the chaos before signing, allowing them to focus on securing new business opportunities.
