Ensono collaborates on potentially life-saving heart app

Ensono Digital, the cloud consulting and managed services business of Ensono, has been working with clinicians from King’s College Hospital (KCH) and King’s College London (KCL) to improve the probability of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest from the current low level of 10%.

Over the course of a three-day Microsoft Hackathon, Ensono and King’s College clinicians developed a working prototype app that uses a neurological risk algorithm, known as MIRACLE2, to assess the risk of brain damage following an out- of-hospital cardiac arrest.

The proof-of-concept web application takes patient data (e.g. age, ECG
scores and heart rhythm), calculates a neurological risk score and presents predictive information in a clear format so that paramedics and clinicians can make informed decisions and offer personalised treatment for each patient.

The MIRACLE2 algorithm was developed by a research programme led by Dr. Nilesh Pareek, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at King’s College Hospital and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at King’s College London.
