Former Microsoft Partner Technology Strategist joins Giacom to support partners through CSP changes and accelerate growth in Microsoft practices.
Specialist cloud marketplace provider Giacom has appointed Andy Porter as its new Microsoft Technology Strategist. Having previously worked as a Partner Technology Strategist at Microsoft, Andy brings nearly 15 years of experience in the partner ecosystem and a deep understanding of Microsoft’s technology stack and best practices for deployments. Reporting to Carl Oliver, Head of Product and Cloud Practice, he will focus on strengthening Giacom’s Microsoft strategy and working directly with partners to simplify adoption and build scalable, profitable cloud practices.
His appointment comes at a critical time for the channel. Microsoft has announced that from 1st October 2025, the annual revenue threshold to maintain a direct CSP relationship will rise from $300,000 to $1 million. This change will affect a significant number of UK providers, many of whom will need to transition to an indirect model. Andy will play a pivotal role in ensuring that those choosing Giacom as their indirect provider benefit from strategic support that goes beyond what they had under the direct model—giving them additional resources to grow faster and more effectively as an indirect partner
Having worked alongside Giacom during his time at Microsoft, Andy says he was drawn to the company’s culture and reputation as the UK’s leading Microsoft CSP provider, and to the opportunity of having a more direct, hands-on impact with partners.
“I’ve always admired Giacom’s Microsoft proposition, and having worked with the team during my time at Microsoft, I saw first-hand the value they deliver for partners,” said Andy. “Joining Giacom gives me the chance to make a real impact by working side-by-side with partners to shape their Microsoft propositions, help them navigate industry change, and deliver more value to their customers. Giacom offers the complete package – from its Cloud Market platform to specialist expertise and unrivalled partner support – making it the best place to help partners succeed.”
Carl Oliver, added, “Andy’s appointment highlights our commitment to strengthening our Microsoft strategy and ensuring partners are fully supported as the CSP landscape evolves. His experience and insight will be instrumental in supporting strategic partners through deeper engagement. From technology strategy sessions and roadmap planning to helping partners achieve Microsoft Solution Partner designations, Andy will help partners unlock greater value and long-term growth. We’re delighted to welcome him to the team.”
