OPEN ECX Enhances Global E-Invoicing With Peppol Accreditation

Business software provider Open ECX has become an accredited access point for the global PEPPOL framework, strengthening its support for companies trading internationally.

PEPPOL – which stands for Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line – enables organisations to securely exchange electronic invoices, purchase orders and other business documents using common standards.

As a PEPPOL-certified access point, Open ECX enables its growing customer base to connect and transact with any trading partner on the network worldwide, eliminating the need for bespoke integrations and reducing complexity across supply chains.

This means customers can exchange documents in standardised formats, improving data quality, reducing errors and supporting compliance with rapidly evolving e-invoicing regulations.

Nathan Ollier, chief executive of Open ECX, said: “This is becoming increasingly critical as governments move towards near real-time reporting and mandatory electronic invoicing.”

He added: “PEPPOL provides a trusted, global framework for exchanging business documents at scale. We already help organisations automate document exchange, streamline reporting and share data securely with trading partners and authorities.

“Becoming PEPPOL-certified is a natural extension of that work and represents a milestone in our mission.”

Established in 2008 by the European Commission, PEPPOL has grown into a widely-adopted international standard used across Europe, Asia and Australasia, and is now central to many national e-invoicing strategies.

Last month, Belgium became the first country to make it mandatory for B2B and business-to-government invoices to be exchanged electronically. The UK and other European nations are expected to follow suit.

Nathan said: “By enabling compliant cross-border transactions today, the platform ensures businesses are well prepared for regulatory change in the future without disruption.

“PEPPOL readiness reduces manual intervention, accelerates invoicing and payment cycles, and allows businesses to focus on growth rather than administrative burden.

“As the UK government moves towards mandatory e-invoicing, expected by 2029, organisations that prepare now will be best placed to remain compliant and competitive.”

With its accreditation, Open ECX has also become a certified PEPPOL Service Metadata Publisher (SMP), allowing customers to publish and discover the technical details needed for secure and compliant end-to-end e-invoicing and document exchange.

Open ECX is an award-winning provider of SaaS-based business transaction software that helps organisations automate and standardise financial and operational processes, including invoicing, ordering and reconciliation.

The company, which is backed by private equity firm MonacoSol, serves a global customer base across construction, energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage.
