Phoenix Software has once again been named one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture. Phoenix Software achieved 7th place on the Great Place to Work’s “UK’s Best Workplaces for Development 2026” list in the large company category.
This recognition doesn’t come from a panel of judges or a self-nomination form. It comes directly from the people who know Phoenix best: its own team.
What the award measures
Great Place to Work’s Best Workplaces for Development list isn’t handed out lightly. To be eligible, organisations must achieve a minimum 65% score on the development index, and that score is built on direct, confidential employee feedback across five specific statements:
- I am offered training or development to further myself professionally.
- I am given the resources and equipment to do my job.
- Promotions go to those who best deserve them.
- Managers avoid favouritism.
- Management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulders.
For Phoenix to land on this list, Phoenix employees said yes to those statements in numbers that put the company amongst the very best workplaces in the UK.
Phoenix takes an individual approach to employee development
“At Phoenix, we’ve long believed that development isn’t a tick-box exercise or an annual training day. Real development is personal. It looks different for a Sales Executive who’s six months into their career than it does for a Consultant who’s been in the industry for fifteen years. That’s why our approach to growth has always been built around the individual,” Clare Metcalfe, Managing Director, Phoenix Software
How does Phoenix deliver an individualised approach to employee development?
- Monthly one-to-ones with line manager. Every single month, every employee sits down with their manager to take stock of where they are, where they’re headed, and what they need to get there.
- Personal development plans for every employee. The development plan tracks training, flags goals, and gives a clear line of sight on what progression looks like.
- A culture that trusts employees to grow into the role they want. Phoenix doesn’t promote based on tenure or favouritism. Promotion is based on merit, potential, and the hard work people put in every day.
Other accreditations
This award sits alongside a growing track record of Best Workplace recognitions for Phoenix. In early 2026, Phoenix was ranked 4th in the large company category on the UK’s Best Workplaces list. The company has also been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces in Tech, a Best Workplace for Women, and a certified Great Place to Work for multiple consecutive years.
“We are immensely proud to be recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development for another year. But this is more than a badge; we see it as a baseline that we’re determined to keep building upon.
We remain committed to creating an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work. We’re continuing to invest in the tools, structures, and culture that make Phoenix a place where people can build careers, not just fill roles. This is because we believe that when our people thrive, the organisation thrives. The best outcomes for our customers come from a team that’s genuinely fulfilled, growing, and proud of where they work.”
