Resellers and MSPs converge at Tech Live 2024

Visitors from across the ICT spectrum explore opportunities for business growth and diversification

Yesterday, MSPs and IT resellers from across the ICT spectrum converged on the Business Design Centre, London for Tech Live 24 and Uptime Live.

The event gave visitors the opportunity to explore complementary solutions and potential new sources of revenue in IT, cybersecurity, print, AV and telecoms, as well as less obvious areas like cloud accounting and energy.

As companies like iplicit, Fidelity Energy and cloud telephony provider NFON made clear, many suppliers do most of the heavy lifting (sometimes all of it) for their partners, making it easier for them to diversify into new areas.

This is also where distributors like TD SYNNEX, with its OpenMPS managed print service, Technology To Go, Exertis Print and Select Technology can help.

Several exhibitors have had first-hand experience of diversification themselves. PFU Ricoh, for example, created from Ricoh’s acquisition of Fujitsu subsidiary PFU Limited, was encouraging resellers of Fujitsu document scanners to take a look at Ricoh projectors – and vice versa – helping to increase sales for the merged business.

Expanding one’s product offering is not the only way to grow. You can also do it by increasing productivity, efficiency and competitiveness, which is what exhibitors like Vantage – an Asolvi company, ECI Solutions, EKM, PAE Business and Intelligent Billing were all offering.

Another option is to acquire additional capabilities to help penetrate new markets. Award-winning telemarketing services provider Teknov8 has grown massively in the last 12 months by helping customers do just that. They were in bullish mood when Technology Reseller spoke to them, and in this respect they bucked the trend, with most people finding business slow and hoping for a bounce after the October budget.

However, one group that’s not just prospering but, in the words of Greg Jones of Kaseya, enjoying ‘a golden age’ is the MSP community, with average growth of 12.5%.

Thanks to our co-location with Uptime Live, there was a large cohort of MSPs at this year’s event, with Tech Live and Uptime Live registrants free to roam between the co-located exhibition floors, attend free break-out seminar sessions and even enjoy games and relaxation in the dedicated games area.

After the event, Tech Live and Uptime Live exhibitors and their guests mingled at the after-show party in Skinny Kitchen, enjoying drinks generously supplied by the Tech Live 2024 Networking Drinks Sponsors Henley Executive and Knight Corporate Finance.
