Women in tech community boosted by global tech firm partnership

A fast-growing global community dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology has welcomed a new global tech partner.
SheCanCode, which was founded in 2016, has welcomed global GovTech champion Civica, to support its vibrant space where members connect, share knowledge and access the latest insights, guidance and events shaping the future of women in tech.
With more than 300,000 users worldwide and an active network of more than 4,000 women in tech, SheCanCode offers mentorship programmes, university partnerships and support for non-profit initiatives that help women build rewarding and sustainable careers in technology.
The partnership will support greater inclusion across the tech sector by helping more women explore, develop and progress careers in technology through access to mentoring, learning, networking and professional development opportunities.
Civica is a global business providing cloud-based software and services that help more than 6,000 organisations across central and local government, health and care and education improve outcomes for the communities they serve. Its solutions support the delivery of critical services for more than 100 million citizens worldwide.
Kayleigh Bateman, Managing Director, Community & Partnerships, at SheCanCode, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Civica as a Corporate Ambassador. Their commitment to empowering women in technology aligns perfectly with SheCanCode’s mission to close the gender gap in the tech industry. Together, we’re creating opportunities, breaking down barriers and inspiring the next generation of women in tech. We’re excited for the work we plan to create together.”
By supporting greater representation in technology, the partnership aligns to the recent government initiative, Women in Tech Taskforce, which champions diversity in the UK tech sector, to help boost economic growth. It was launched after research found 29% of UK tech employees, and only 21% of senior tech role holders, are women or non-binary.
Lee Perkins, CEO at Civica, said: “The technology we build has a direct impact on the lives of millions of people, so it’s essential that the teams creating it reflect the diverse communities we serve. Partnering with SheCanCode is an important step in helping more women access opportunities in technology, develop their skills and build rewarding careers.”
