Communications vendor Xelion has announced the release of version 8.3 of its platform. With a series of new features designed to enhance usability, the new version caps a year of growth and success for the platform.
The first rolled out to partners on 4th December at 10 PM UK time. This is to give them an opportunity to use the new features, before making it available to customers on 19th December.
New features include:
- Text to speech auto-attendant – this generates auto-attendant messages from text in a variety of languages and accents, removing the need to organise recordings.
- User softphone layouts can now be saved as templates and deployed across departments and organisations, to make standardised deployments even faster.
- The ability to create custom statuses, such as “holiday” or “maternity leave”. This will automatically update presence and the user’s availability in hunt groups and call queues.
- “Call flip” – this allows the user to switch a call to any of their other devices, from or to the mobile app, softphone or physical desk phone.
- Enhancements to the to-do list functionality. This allows users to create tasks for themselves or others. With 8.3, users will be able to create tasks for hunt groups.
- Enhanced “call pick-up” functionality within the softphone, allowing users to answer calls with a single button press.
All users receive the update at no additional cost, regardless of when they started using the platform. This is true of any new features added to Xelion, due to its licensing structure. The platform is licensed per user, meaning that all users receive all features. This includes new ones.
The development pathway was agreed by the UK and Netherlands-based teams, incorporating partner suggestions. Xelion partners can request new features via the ticketing system, and many of the abovementioned features began in this way.
This completes a year of growth for Xelion, which ends 2023 with a larger team, partner base and user base.
Xelion’s UK Managing Director, Dave Reynolds, said:
“The release of Xelion 8.3 marks the end of a fantastic year for us, and will get 2024 off to a great start too. As ever, we’ve consulted partners on the features they and our users would like to see. For us, this is critical to making a user-centric service. Their feedback has been instrumental in creating a development pathway, and I’d like to thank all who took part.
We’re delighted with the features and enhancements we’ve added, and after thorough QA testing we’ve launched successfully. Our partners have direct input to this process, and all users get the new version at no extra charge. To me, this sets Xelion apart and I look forward to another great year in 2024.”
