Novatech becomes UK’s first certified Proxmox training partner as demand for open-source virtualisation grows

Certification gives UK channel partners access to accredited Proxmox training as organisations reassess virtualisation strategies and seek alternatives to proprietary infrastructure platforms

Novatech, the multi-specialist IT partner, has today announced it has become the UK’s first certified Proxmox training partner, strengthening its ability to help resellers and channel partners build the skills and expertise needed to support customers adopting enterprise open-source virtualisation.

Proxmox is an open-source virtualisation platform that enables organisations to run and manage virtual machines and containers on their own infrastructure, providing an alternative to proprietary platforms such as VMware.

Novatech’s certification comes at a pivotal time for the channel. As organisations reassess their virtualisation strategies and VMware agreements come up for renewal, resellers are increasingly being asked to advise customers on alternatives, migration and the long-term implications of changing their infrastructure platforms.

For channel partners, that creates both an opportunity and a challenge. Customers need confidence that any move to a new virtualisation platform can be planned and delivered effectively, while resellers need access to the technical knowledge required to have those conversations credibly.

Novatech’s certified Proxmox training capability is designed to address that skills gap, giving channel partners access to accredited training that can help them develop in-house Proxmox expertise and support customers through the adoption and migration process.

“Training is a critical part of giving organisations confidence to make a change to their virtualisation environment,” said Alex Tatham, IT Channel Consultant, Exec and Non-Exec Director at Novatech. “For resellers, it’s not simply about understanding a different technology platform but being able to have informed conversations with customers, understand their requirements and support them throughout what can be a significant infrastructure transition.

“Becoming the UK’s first certified Proxmox training partner means we can help channel partners build that capability themselves, while also providing the engineering expertise they can draw on when projects require additional support.”

Novatech’s training capability forms part of a broader approach to supporting partners across the Proxmox adoption journey. Alongside accredited training, Novatech provides infrastructure assessment, migration planning, implementation and ongoing UK-based support, enabling channel partners to access specialist engineering expertise where required.

The opportunity comes as the channel continues to navigate the changing virtualisation landscape following Broadcom’s acquisition of VMware. With organisations reviewing infrastructure costs, licensing models, vendor dependency and long-term flexibility, resellers are increasingly looking beyond traditional proprietary platforms and evaluating open-source alternatives.

For partners, the ability to combine training with access to specialist engineering support can help reduce the risk associated with those conversations, while allowing them to retain ownership of the customer relationship and identify new services opportunities.

“There’s a real opportunity for the channel here, but partners need to be able to take their customers on that journey with confidence,” said David Furby, CEO of Novatech. “Training is an important part of that. It gives partners the knowledge to understand Proxmox properly, assess where it fits and have credible conversations with customers about what migration could mean for their business.

“Our role is to support partners rather than compete with them. Whether they need to build their own Proxmox capability through training or bring in additional engineering expertise for a complex project, we can help them develop the skills and resources they need to support their customers.”

Novatech’s Proxmox expertise adds to its evolution into an engineering-led infrastructure specialist. While the company has a long heritage in hardware, it has spent the past decade developing capabilities across enterprise infrastructure, AI platforms, high-performance computing and secure IT environments.

Its work with Proxmox reflects this broader focus on helping organisations build infrastructure around open standards, greater operational control and flexibility, while giving channel partners access to specialist skills and expertise that can complement their own capabilities.

As demand for alternative virtualisation platforms continues to develop, Novatech’s certified training capability provides a foundation for partners looking to expand their Proxmox expertise and support customers through the changing infrastructure landscape.
