Established Hull communications provider completes major connectivity migration to Bright Edge’s Beacon platform, simplifying wholesale service management and support while establishing a collaborative partnership focused on future growth.
Bright Edge Networks has announced a new strategic partnership with Cobus Communications, Hull’s longest established independent business communications provider, following the successful migration of a substantial portfolio of Cobus’s KCOM wholesale connectivity services onto the Bright Edge Beacon platform.
The partnership brings together two Hull-based businesses with a shared commitment to delivering reliable communications services and exceptional customer support. It also represents a significant milestone for Bright Edge as it continues to expand its wholesale partner network across the UK.
Established in 1991, Cobus Communications has been supporting businesses for more than three decades, building a strong reputation for delivering tailored telecommunications and technology solutions to organisations across Hull and beyond. The company has continued to evolve its service offering to meet the changing communications requirements of its customers, with connectivity playing an increasingly important role in supporting modern business operations.
The move to Bright Edge provides Cobus with a simplified wholesale model, replacing the need to manage its migrated services directly through KCOM Wholesale with a single point of contact for connectivity provisioning, service management and support.
Through Bright Edge’s Beacon platform, Cobus can access real-time connectivity availability, generate customer quotations, place orders and manage its growing service portfolio through a single, self-service environment.
The platform also provides integrated partner support ticketing, allowing Cobus to raise, monitor and manage support requests directly within Beacon. Bright Edge manages communication and escalation with the underlying network providers, removing the need for Cobus to engage with individual carriers directly when managing services supplied through the platform.
Building on Hull’s communications heritage
Hull has a long-established telecommunications heritage, with KCOM playing a central role in the development of the region’s communications infrastructure.
Both Bright Edge and Cobus have strong connections to the city, and the partnership demonstrates how local businesses are continuing to develop new approaches to delivering connectivity services while supporting customers across the UK.
By combining Cobus’s experience in business communications with Bright Edge’s wholesale platform, multi-carrier relationships and partner-focused approach, the partnership provides a foundation for continued growth and the delivery of an expanding range of connectivity and voice services.
Sam Hales, Sales Director at Bright Edge Networks, said:
“Working with Cobus is particularly exciting for us because they’re a business with such a strong history in Hull and an established reputation for looking after their customers. We’re both passionate about delivering great service, and this partnership brings together that shared approach with the technology we’ve developed through Beacon.
“Completing the migration of Cobus’s connectivity portfolio has been a significant project for both businesses, and it’s fantastic to see them now benefiting from a much simpler way of managing their wholesale services.
“Our aim with Beacon has always been to remove the unnecessary complexity that can come with wholesale telecoms. Partners should be able to check availability, quote their customers, place orders and manage support without having to navigate multiple supplier systems or spend valuable time chasing different providers.
“But our relationship with partners goes well beyond providing access to a wholesale platform. We want to work closely with businesses like Cobus to help them grow, whether that’s through simplifying their day-to-day operations, expanding their service offering or supporting their marketing activities.
“We’re already working together on opportunities to raise awareness of the services Cobus delivers, and we’re looking forward to building on that as the partnership develops. Having Cobus on board is another important milestone for Bright Edge and a great example of the type of long-term relationships we’re looking to build with our partners.”
Emma Waudby, Commercial Director at Cobus Communications, said:
“At Cobus, we’ve always placed a strong emphasis on building long-term relationships with our customers and making sure they receive the right communications solutions for their businesses. As our connectivity portfolio continues to develop, it’s important that the systems and partners supporting us make it as straightforward as possible to deliver that service.
“Moving a significant portion of our Hull connectivity portfolio across to Bright Edge has given us a much simpler way to manage our local wholesale services. Beacon brings everything together in one place, from checking availability and preparing customer quotations through to placing orders and managing support requests.
“Having Bright Edge as our single point of contact also means we can spend less time dealing with different wholesale processes and more time focusing on our customers.
“What’s particularly encouraging is that Bright Edge is interested in supporting us beyond the day-to-day delivery of connectivity. We’re looking forward to working together on joint marketing initiatives that will help us reach new customers, raise awareness of our services and build on the strong relationships we’ve established over the years.
“We’re pleased to be working with another Hull-based business and look forward to developing the partnership further.”
Supporting the next stage of partner growth
The Cobus partnership forms part of Bright Edge’s wider strategy to simplify wholesale telecoms for managed service providers, IT businesses and telecommunications resellers.
Through Beacon, partners can access connectivity services across multiple UK networks, including FTTP, SoGEA and leased lines, alongside hosted VoIP, SIP trunks and IoT connectivity.
By consolidating these services within one platform, Bright Edge enables partners to manage multiple products and network providers through a single wholesale relationship, while retaining their own customer relationships and control over their retail pricing.
Beyond its technology platform, Bright Edge is also committed to supporting the commercial growth of its partners. For businesses looking to develop their market presence, this includes working collaboratively on marketing initiatives, providing product information and promotional materials, and identifying opportunities to raise awareness of their connectivity and communications services.
Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all approach, Bright Edge works with partners who want additional marketing support to understand their individual objectives and develop activities that complement their existing sales and marketing efforts.
This collaborative approach reflects Bright Edge’s wider ambition to build long-term relationships with its wholesale partners, providing not only the technology and services needed to deliver connectivity but also the operational and commercial support to help them develop their businesses.
Bright Edge continues to develop Beacon with a focus on increasing automation, improving service management and expanding the range of products available to its wholesale partners.
The partnership with Cobus represents a further step in that development, demonstrating how established communications providers can benefit from a modern wholesale platform while gaining access to the support and resources needed to pursue new opportunities and strengthen their position in the market.
Bright Edge Networks is a Hull-based wholesale connectivity, hosted voice and IoT provider supporting MSPs, IT businesses and telecom resellers across the UK.
Through its Beacon wholesale platform, Bright Edge provides partners with access to multiple UK connectivity networks, integrated voice services and a streamlined environment for quoting, ordering, provisioning and support.
Bright Edge’s wholesale-first model is designed to help partners expand their service offering, simplify operational processes and develop long-term recurring revenue opportunities while maintaining ownership of their customer relationships.
Alongside its technology platform, Bright Edge works closely with partners to support their commercial development, offering product resources, marketing support and collaborative initiatives that help businesses expand their reach and develop new customer opportunities.
